Paula Deen has diabetes, so what's the big deal all about? Well the talking heads must be short of big trial cases to analyze so now why not go after Paula Deen. Anyone in there right mind would know that if you eat the things she cooks on a daily basis, the outcome will, at the least, be diabetes. May I remind all that her show does not claim to be a
"Healthy Cooking" show. I am shocked that the alcohol drinking, cigarette smoking
Anthony Bourdain is criticizing
Paula Deen, wow, call the kettle black. The celeb chef and
No Reservations star, who has bashed Deen's calorie-bomb recipes in the past, made an obvious dig at the Food Network star on Twitter Tuesday.
There are millions of Americans that stuff their faces mindlessly on a daily basis with all the things that will lead to heart disease, arthritis, obesity, diabetes and many more. Then when the body starts to give out, OMG, what a surprise. It is like not paying your rent for six months and then being surprised that you received an eviction notice. This is pure finger pointing and if people do not want to take responsibility for their poor habits, this will always be the outcome.
I take greater issue with all the money these irresponsible people cost people like me and you that are responsible and proactive in their health regimen, having to foot the bill through my increased health insurance premiums, taxes and the burden placed on our already taxed health care system. Shame on those that create this hell and then want to point a finger elsewhere.
Enough with the talking heads, playing volley ball with this word "responsibility". It is not Paula Deen's responsibility, she just cooks good old southern food with tons of butter among other things. It is not Food Network's responsibility, they produce a variety of cooking shows that provide a wide array of vegetarian to exotic, and yes, food that is NOT so good for you. It is not even your grandma's responsibility! The bottom line is that it is each individuals responsibility to make these decisions for themselves. Cigarettes are bad for us and we have known that for a long time, but you don't see such outrage about that in the headlines.
I would like to see those irresponsible people that let themselves go, actually be fined for burdening the rest of us. I would also like to see irresponsible parents fined, jailed, or court ordered to do community service that let their young children eat whatever they want, enough is enough!
Lastly, some may say she kept it a secret for three years and that is an issue, really? Well let me remind all that before you cast anymore stones that one of the greatest fears we all share in common it the dissemination of our private health status. If now you want to ask her to waive her right to privacy, be forewarned, it could come back to bite you on your big fat butt! What would happen to those seeking employment or trying not to get dropped from their insurance to mention only a few. The reason why we fought for patients rights, but not limited to, is because of the exile and ostracizing of people with stigma. If you want to destroy someone, then look in the mirror first and ask yourself, "am I really that responsible?". If you find you are you will not condemn Paula Deen or the Food Network, you should protest Butter Butter, Butter, first. Now put down that butter laden whatever you are stuffing in your face at this moment reading this just so you can rant on comments.

I agree that Paula Dean is a delight. What she does is her art; and if good ol' down home southern cooking is your thing, you have to know how to take responsibility for the consequences that WILL show up as a result of over- indulgence.
ReplyDeleteNo one is responsible for anyone else, especially when hardly anyone has a crystal clear idea of what that really means. How about we shift that to ACCOUNTABILITY; a simple system of checks and balances we hold ourselves to. Until individuals can integrate that, they have no right to point fingers at anyone else!! So there!” Donna, Vero Beach, FL
Yes Accountability, is one to add to the list, I agree.
